PtHA's® point system provides awards ranging from the Register of Merit to the coveted Superior Champion, the highest honor awarded. The award is based per unit, which is one equine and one exhibitor in the AM & YA divisions. Awards are based per Pinto in the Open division.

Depending on your placing and the number of entries, you can earn points simply by exhibiting your Pinto at approved shows and events.

REGISTER OF MERIT

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth units are awarded a Register of Merit when they have earned 35 ROM points in an individual event.

It is possible for a Pinto, Amateur unit or Youth unit to earn multiple ROM awards by competing in a variety of events. Once a ROM is earned in an event, you cannot receive a second one in the same event.


REGISTER OF EXCELLENCE

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth units are awarded a Register of Excellence when they have earned 175 ROM points in an individual event.

It is possible for a Pinto, Amateur unit or Youth unit to earn multiple ROE awards by competing in a variety of events. Once a ROE is earned in an event, you cannot receive a second one in the same event.


ADVANCED AWARDS

The Pinto Horse® magazine recognizes the efforts and accomplishments of the members and Pintos who receive Register Of Merit Program awards starting at the Legion of Merit. Recipients receive a letter in the mail encouraging them to submit a photo and other requested information to the Pinto Horse magazine so they can be recognized in the publication.


CERTIFICATE OF ABILITY

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth units are awarded a Certificate of Ability when they have earned a ROM in four separate performance events.


CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth units are awarded a Certificate of Achievement when they have earned a ROM in six separate performance events.


CERTIFICATE OF SUPERIOR ABILITY

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth units are awarded a Certificate of Superior Ability when they have:

     • Open Horse/Long Ear: earned a ROE in four separate performance events
     • Open Pony/Mini/Mini Long Ear: earned a ROE in three separate individual performance events
     • AM and YA units: earned a ROE in four separate individual performance events, including Showmanship, Equitation, Horsemanship and Reinsmanship


CERTIFICATE OF SUPERIOR ACHIEVEMENT

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth units are awarded a Certificate of Superior Achievement when they have:

     • Open Horse/Long Ear: earned a ROE in six separate performance events
     • Open Pony/Mini/Mini Long Ear: earned a ROE in four separate individual performance events
     • AM and YA unit: earned a ROE in six separate performance events, including Showmanship, Equitation, Horsemanship and Reinsmanship


VERSATILITY AWARD

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth units are awarded the Versatility Award when they have:

     • Open: earned 65 Halter points in a regular qualifying Halter class; earned a performance ROE earned a ROM in six separate performance events, with two being under Western equipment and two under English, and the remaining being optional
     • AM and YA units: earned 65 points in either Western or English Showmanship, but not a combination of both; earned an Amateur/Youth ROE in any event; earned an Amateur/Youth ROM in three separate performance events (excluding Showmanship, Equitation, Horsemanship and Reinsmanship), with two being under Western equipment and one under English equipment, or two being under English equipment and one under Western equipment; earned an Amateur/Youth ROM in Western Horsemanship, and in either Hunter Seat or Saddle Seat Equitation
     • Ponies and Minis and Mini Long Ears shown exclusively in-cart and/or in-hand: earned 65 halter points; earned a performance ROE; earned a ROM in at least four separate events, including one in an individual obstacle performance class.


CHAMPION

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth units are awarded the title of "PtHA Champion” when they have:

     • Open Horse, Long Ear, Pony, Mini, Mini Long Ear: earned 150 points in competition in PtHA approved shows (excluding Open Competition Activities) provided that:
            - The points have been won under eight or more different judges
            - At least 65 of the points have been won in Halter classes or a combination of 55 Halter and 10 Color points under at least three different judges as a two-year-old or older
            - At least 65 of the points have been won in ROM approved performance classes or racing events
            - The performance record includes points from at least three performance or racing events, under at least three different judges, earned as a two-year-old or older
            - The Pinto has earned a minimum of one ROM certificate in performance or racing events,
            - If the Pinto is a horse it has earned at least 10 points in a second ROM event in either performance or racing
     • AM and YA units:earned 150 points in competition in PtHA® approved shows, provided that:
            - The points have been won under five or more different judges
            - At least 50 of the points have been won in either Western or English Showmanship, but not a combination of both
            - At least 65 of the points have been won in performance or equitation events
            - The records include points earned under at least three different judges
            - The AM/YA unit has earned a minimum of three Amateur/Youth ROM certificates in any of the approved events, one of which must be in performance, Equitation, Horsemanship or Reinsmanship, regardless of the total number of points the AM/YA unit has otherwise accumulated


PtHA® LEGION OF MERIT

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth units are awarded the title of "PtHA® Legion of Merit" when they have:

     • Open Horse, Long Ear, Pony, Mini, Mini Long Ear: earned 650 or more points in competition in PtHA® approved shows (excluding Color classes) provided that:
            - The points have been won in 12 or more shows and under 40 or more different judges
            - At least 185 of the points have been won in point-earning equivalent Halter classes
            - At least 125 of the Halter points have been won in Class A rated shows
            - The Halter record includes points earned at Class A rated shows as a two-year-old or older, all as the same conformation type, and that these were won under at least five different judges
            - At least 400 of the points have been won in ROM approved performance or racing events earned as a two-year-old or older
            - At least 250 of the performance points have been won in Class A rated shows
            - The Pinto has earned a minimum of four ROM certificates in either performance or racing events regardless of the total number of points that it has otherwise accumulated. A pony under 50" and ponies shown exclusively in-cart or in-hand classes and miniatures must have earned two ROM's in performance events
            - The Pinto has earned one ROE award in an approved individual performance or racing event, regardless of the total number of points it has otherwise accumulated
            - The Pinto must have earned a minimum of 10 points each in at least six different ROM performance or racing events. A pony under 50" and ponies shown exclusively in-cart or in-hand and miniatures must have earned a minimum of ten points in at least three ROM performance events
            - At least 10 Halter points and 30 performance points must be earned through placings at a Jubilee Show, Regional Show, Congress Show or Pinto World Show
     • AM and YA unit: earned 650 points in competition in PtHA® approved shows (except where specifically noted), provided that:
            - The points have been won in 12 or more shows and under 30 or more different judges
            - At least 185 of the points have been won in either Western or English Showmanship, or a combination of 250 points in English and Western Showmanship
            - The Showmanship record includes points earned at Class A rated shows, and that these were won under at least five different judges
            - At least 100 of the Showmanship points have been won in Class A rated shows
            - At least 400 of the points have been won in approved performance and/or Equitation, Horsemanship or Reinsmanship events
            - At least 225 of the performance and/or Equitation, Horsemanship or Reinsmanship points have been won in Class A rated shows
            - The AM/YA unit has earned a minimum of four Amateur/Youth ROMs in approved individual performance and/or Equitation events, regardless of the total number of points the AM unit has otherwise accumulated
            - The AM/YA unit has earned one Amateur/Youth ROE in approved individual performance and/or Equitation, Horsemanship or Reinsmanship events, regardless of the total number of points the AM unit has otherwise accumulated
            - The AM/YA unit must have earned a minimum of 10 points each in at least six different approved performance and/or Equitation, Horsemanship or Reinsmanship events
     • At least ten (10) Halter points and/or showmanship points and 30 performance points must be earned through placings at a Jubilee Show, Regional Show, a Color Breed Congress® or Pinto World Championship® Show


PINTO SUPREME CHAMPION

Pintos, Amateur units and Youth Amateur units are awarded the title of "PtHA® Supreme Champion" what they have:

     • Open Horse/Long Ear: earned 1500 Open points or more in competition in PtHA® approved shows (excluding Color classes); Open Pony, Mini, Mini Long Ear: earned 1000 Open points or more in competition in PtHA® approved shows (excluding Color classes) AND provided that:
            - PtHA® Champion and PtHA® Legion of Merit awards have been earned
            - At least 100 points have been earned at a Jubilee Show, Regional Show, Color Breed Congress® Show or Pinto World Championship® Show
            - At least 250 points have been earned in Halter
            - At least 200 of the Halter points have been earned in Class A rated shows as a two-year-old or older
            - Halter points have been earned as a two-year-old or older under 10 different judges, all as the same conformation type
            - At least 500 of the performance points have been earned in Class A rated shows
            - The Pinto has earned two ROEs in approved individual performance events
     • AM and YA unit: earned 1000 points in 20 or more PtHA® approved shows under at least 35 different judges, provided that:
            - Amateur/Youth Champion and Amateur/Youth Legion of Merit awards have been earned
            - 200 points have been earned in either Western or English Showmanship, or a combination of 300 points in Western and English Showmanship, and at least 150 of the Showmanship points earned in Class A rated shows, with points earned under at least eight different judges
            - 600 points have been earned in Equitation or performance events, and at least 400 of the Equitation, Horsemanship, Reinsmanship and/or performance points earned in Class A rated shows, with points earned under at least eight different judges
            - Five Amateur/Youth ROMs have been earned in Equitation, Horsemanship or Reinsmanship and/or individual performance events and a minimum of 10 points in each of two other Equitation, Horsemanship or Reinsmanship and/or performance events
            - Two Amateur/Youth ROEs have been earned, one in Equitation, Horsemanship or Reinsmanship, and one in an individual performance event
     • At least ten (10) Halter points and/or showmanship points and 30 performance points must be earned through placings at a Jubilee Show, Regional Show, a Color Breed Congress® Show or Pinto World Championship® Show


CERTIFICATE OF HALTER ABILITY

 Pintos/AM Units/YA Units are advanced to Certificate of Halter Ability upon earning the following:

        • Open: 500 points in Open Halter
        • AM Unit: 300 points in Amateur Halter
        • YA Unit: 250 points in Youth Halter


CERTIFICATE OF HALTER ACHIEVEMENT

Pintos/AM Units/YA Units are advanced to Certificate of Halter Achievement upon earning the following:

         • Open: 750 points in Open Halter
         • AM Unit: 450 points in Amateur Halter
         • YA Unit: 375 points in Youth Halter


SUPERIOR HALTER AWARD

For all Pintos register by the PtHA®, Inc., the title or term “PtHA® Superior Halter” is hereby reserved by said Association for its express use and awarded to individual Pintos or AM Units or YA Units which meet the requirements set forth in the following section. Pintos or AM Units or YA Units are awarded the title “PtHA® Superior Halter” when the have met the following criteria in their respective divisions:

Open Horse, Long Ear, Pony, Miniature, Miniature Long Ear or Utility horse: earned 1000 points in Open Division Halter classes in PtHA®-Approved shows

         • AM Unit : earned 600 points in Amateur Division Halter classes in PtHA®-Approved Shows

         • YA Unit : earned 500 points in Youth Division Halter classes in PtHA®-Approved Shows

Any and all Pintos registered with the PtHA®, Inc. who achieve the Superior Halter Award will receive a trophy and be added to an ongoing list of lifetime accumulated Halter Points, kept accurate by PtHA® on their website, to be viewed by PtHA® Members.


SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE PINTO

While not intended to be above a Supreme Champion, this award is the highest performance award given.

     • Horse/Long Ear: earned eight Performance ROEs
     • Pony, Mini, Mini Long Ear: earned five Performance ROEs
     • AM and YA unit: earned eight Performance ROEs, including Showmanship, Equitation, Horsemanship and Reinsmanship
