Color Breed Council

The Color Breed Council is made up of officers that are representatives of various equine associations, (i.e., APHA, ApHC, PtHA®, PHBA, NSBA, IBHA and POAC).

The judge’s seminar is by invitation only. You must hold a current judge’s card with one or more of the associations involved or be invited to attend as an applicant with an approved association.

To become an applicant, you will need to contact each association you are interested in applying with for a judge’s application. Each organization has different requirements for becoming a judge applicant.

During the seminar, there will be three areas of testing various disciplines, which include video testing; rule book testing and an interview session.

The association’s involved require their applicants to pass each section with a certain percentage. If one area of testing is not passed, you may not receive judging credentials. You can reapply for the seminar if you do not pass, however, each association has their own requirements for the time involved in submitting a new application.

If you do not have previous judging experience, the testing at the International Equine Judges Seminar may appear difficult. You may want to become involved judging 4-H shows and small open shows before applying for a judge’s card with the approved associations.
